Upcycling with denim JEANS
What better way to save money while learning all you can than to upcycle existing items and save them from a life in a landfill?
I am not saying to cut up a bunch of your dad’s good jeans…
Please do NOT do that!!
But most men in your life and some of the women have old jeans with a rip, or hole or stain that makes them unfit for use as originally intended.
ASK THEM FOR THEM!!!
You can use old sheets especially flat sheets often as your lining fabric for bags you make out of the old jeans. BUT ASK FIRST!
In my home nobody likes top sheets everyone covers up with a fleece they keep in the closet during the day so we just use them for projects.
If the jeans just have a few holes and fit you try the tutorial below and patch them up really fun with some stuff from your scrap bin.
If you have been sewing you should have a scrap bin, do not go wasting fabric!! If its 2×2 it meant to be cute!!

MAKE A DENIM RAG QUILT
WHY DENIM
When sewing a rag quilt and using denim as the back with a cotton front there is no need for any batting or extra layer in the middle. The denim has a great weight to it already. It rags beautifully and is a wonderful way to not only upcycle but to make your quilt at an unbeatable cost.
No need to buy yardage of denim to begin, hit up all of your family and friends for any old and torn jeans they are looking to throw out. Then follow the videos at the top of the page for the best way to deconstruct them properly.
